Emergency Help
Apart from the four basic Grant Programmes, the OKD Foundation also carries out other publicly beneficial activities.
The Crisis Fund, designed to provide assistance in emergencies, ranks among the foundation's most important facilities. The fund comprises a tool to quickly provide people in need with funds during unforeseeable and extensive crisis situations. The nature of this fund means, of course, that it is not possible to submit an application for a grant from its means, so there is no standard grant procedure. It is the Managing Board of the OKD Foundation that decides on providing support according to each given situation.
Since this fund was initiated, there have been (fortunately) only two situations where the OKD Foundation has had to decide to respond: the first time came during the flooding in June 2009, while the second time occurred shortly after, following the mining accident in Handlová, Slovakia.
