OSTRAVICE (9th September 2010) – Children from Ostravice, a small town located close to the Beskydy mountains, have been enjoying a new school park where there are horizontal bars, climbing frames, swings and a basketball basket. And in addition to all these attractions an open air classroom is being completed for them. The Ostravice Parents´ Club members are preparing the opening ceremony for Sunday, 12th September at 2:00 p.m.  „This will be nothing official, only fun for everyone. KYJOVICE – Opava Region, (26 August 2010) – For this Saturday, the Kyjovice Fellow Countrymen, Civil Association is already preparing  the seventh voluntary work event organized within a voluntary work scheme under which the Kyjovice residents modify an originally untreated area into a nice land which will serve all the village people. The transformation of the previously unused land into the “Meeting Garden”, which has been designed by the village residents themselves during their meetings with an architect, is financed by the Kyjovice Fellow Countrymen, Civil Association through the grants provided by the OKD Foundation, Czech Savings Bank Foundation, as well as thanks to other partners’ help. ... more »

OSTRAVA, (16 August 2010) – The employees of OKD, the coal mining company, have supported the protected textile workshop of the Ostrava-based Trigon Association, where 24 handicapped persons work. They have “aerated” their wardrobes and found fabric, buttons, laces, ribbons and other idle ready-made clothing there, which will help preserving the protected workshop run. At present, the protected workshop has problems due to the bankruptcies of Czech textile factories which supported the protected workshop in the past. ... more »

Třinec / Ostrava, (22 May 2010) – Today, the married couple of Ladislav and Jitka Žáček with their three foster children have moved to a new house in Třinec-Karpentná today. In the future, they want to take care of three additional boys or girls from children’s homes or infant institutes, and the existing housing would be insufficient for such a large family.
