Mission

The OKD Foundation was established in early 2008 to support and develop spiritual and humanitarian values, environment, education, sports and cultural activities and social and medical services. The OKD Foundation's key objectives also include providing support for the North-Moravian region, including mining traditions, and assisting non-profit-making organisations in processing European projects.

The OKD Foundation accomplishes such objectives through its four Grant Programs.

The OKD Foundation founder is the hard coal mining company OKD, a. s. , one of the most significant enterprises and largest employers in the Moravian-Silesian region and the entire Czech Republic. OKD, a.s. , is also a company with a great tradition and a strong connection with the region where it operates.

Over recent years, the company has undergone a restructuring process and has become a part of New World Resources (NWR) , a hard coal mining group. The NWR Group has brought to OKD new prospects, and particularly, world standards that are standard in the international entrepreneurial environment. From there, it was just a step to defining one’s own social responsibility policy, establishing the corporate foundation and placing OKD’s philanthropic efforts on solid foundations. Now OKD expects the OKD Foundation to distribute the funds, obtained from individual donors, conscientiously, systematically and most transparently for the benefit of the best projects and among the neediest.

Apart from the parent company, the most significant donors of the OKD Foundation also include other companies of NWR Group, as well as other companies and individuals.

With the amount of distributed funds, the OKD Foundation ranks among the largest corporate foundations in the Czech Republic.
